The plan for the Melton Botanic Gradens includes two grassy woodland areas, and Flora Victoria were asked if it was possible to sow a total of  about a hectare of native grass. The site was sown with a mix of species including Chloris truncata, Bothriochloa macra, Dicanthium sericeum and Rytidosperma spp. in 2012. Over a year after sowing, the native grass has reached its full size and some of the warm season species are starting to appear in the Wallaby Grass sward.

Germination at one of the two seeding sites a couple of months after sowing.
